BMW IBU Pasaules kauss biatlonā

 

Next winter, Estonia will welcome the BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup, taking place from March 12 to 15, 2026, at the Tehvandi Sports Center in Otepää. This marks the second time the Biathlon World Cup series arrives in Otepää and the Baltics.

The 2022 Biathlon World Cup in Otepää showed just how much Estonians enjoy watching the competition live. "Nearly 20,000 spectators attended the 2022 World Cup over four days, and in March 2026, we are prepared to host even more fans," said Aivar Nigol, chairman of the organizing committee. Next winter's grand event will accommodate up to 20,000 spectators on each race day, who will witness world-class biathlon.

Over the years, the organizing team has focused on providing the best possible conditions for athletes and spectators alike. "Our team is highly skilled and ready to deliver world-class competitions. Over the last two years, we’ve successfully hosted the Youth and Junior World Championships, the Summer Biathlon World Championships, and just wrapped up the IBU Cup Finals in Otepää," said Nigol. "I’m confident that we’ll offer athletes and visitors an event of the highest standard, one that will be remembered for many years," Nigol added.

The World Cup event in Otepää will take place just weeks after the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, offering spectators the chance to cheer on the newly crowned Olympic champions. "Spectators can watch the races from both the shooting range and stadium stands, as well as from trackside, where screens are also installed. Athletes will pass very close to the spectators, providing a truly immersive sports experience," highlighted Nigol. Over the four competition days, the world’s best biathletes will compete in the sprint, pursuit, mixed relay, and single mixed relay events.

In addition to the top-tier sporting event, visitors will also be offered a cultural and leisure program suitable for the whole family. "We want to provide a special cultural experience for audiences of all ages and showcase local food and products. We keep environmental sustainability and conservation in mind in all activities," said Nigol. Starting Friday, March 21, tickets for the event, weekend passes, and day passes for Thursday and Friday will be available on Piletilevi, granting access to the selected area.  For children up to the age of 12, the entrance is free of charge.
