Merzbow & Balázs Pándi to play at Skaņu Mežs 2017

In 2017, Skaņu Mežs will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The festival will take place at the music house “Daile” on October 13th and 14th with an opening event on October 6 at the art museum Riga Bourse. The first announced act of this festival edition is the duo of Merzbow, the Japanese noise musician, held as one of the most important artists in the field, and Balázs Pándi, a drummer active in experimental metal, noise and free jazz. They will play on October 14.

Folk singer Stu Larsen will perform in Riga coming fall

On September 28th an Australian singer, songwriter and folk musician Stu Larsen will perform at Latvian 1st Rock Cafe (Riga, Marstalu 2/4). It will be his first time in Latvia and this concert is to support his brand new album Resolute (to be released on July 21st). The previous, his debut album, is called Vagabond and was released in 2014. A relevant role in its making, record and producing took his friend, a romantic British singer songwriter Passenger, also known as Michael Rosenberg. It’s worth mentioning that Passenger show in Riga last fall was completely sold out.

Fink will perform in Latvia for the first time

British Folk-Rock, Blues and Indie band “Fink” will perform in Riga on Friday, 29th of September in concert hall Palladium. The trio will visit Latvia during a support tour of their upcoming brand new album to be rolling out in spring. “Fink” has released 7 albums until now, of which commercially most succesfull have been “Perfect Darkness” (2011) and “Hard Believer” (2014). ROBBIE WILLIAMS THE HEAVY ENTERTAINMENT SHOW TOUR 2017.

At a press conference in London today, Robbie Williams announced his highly anticipated 2017 European stadium tour. Twenty-nine shows in eighteen countries are announced, opening with a date at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on June 2nd 2017. Erasure will be joining Robbie Williams on the tour as special guests. Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 11. Robbie will perform a special one-off show at The Troxy in London this evening to celebrate receiving the prestigious BRITs Icon Award. The award is the highest accolade given by the BRIT Awards and has previously only been given to Elton John and David Bowie. It is only presented to artists whose writing, recording and performances have set them apart as having made a lasting impact on British culture, recognising the very highest level of achievement in music.

The Danish vocal group POSTYR will perform at Riga A Cappella Festival Opening concert on October 21.
 

POSTYR are known around the world for their distinctive and evocative sound that combines amazing vocals with sampled beats and heartfelt songwriting making POSTYR’s live performances something truly special on the international music scene.
 
The Danish vocal group POSTYR gives vocal music a facelift with their voices, computer and catchy melodies. The group has become known worldwide for their characteristic and evocative sound, combining four gripping voices with sampled beats and heartfelt songwriting, also making POSTYR’s live performances unprecedented in the international music landscape.
 
The singers in POSTYR grew up with vocal and choral music and they met in the inspiring musical environment around the world-renowned Danish choir, Vocal Line, and the award winning vocal group, Vox 11. POSTYR was founded in 2009 out of a desire and an ambition to innovate and generate vocal music through development of new composed music written specifically for this type of ensemble.
 
The singers of POSTYR are all graduates from The Royal Academy of Music in Denmark and have many years of teaching experience under their belt. They offer a range of workshops covering topics such as vocal technique, arranging, creative machines, rhythm and groove, icebreakers, rehearsal methods and performance.
 
In its concerts, the Riga A Cappella Festival offers to make the acquaintance of diversity of a cappella genre, presents through variety of a cappella music projects the most outstanding Latvian and worldwide performers, offers tailored concerts and master classes. The full program and all the artists of the Riga A Cappella Festival will be announced in August 2016. At present, Festival Passes providing entry to all the festival events on 21, 22, and 23 October are available for purchase in limited number. Festival Pass holders will have an opportunity to meet artists and performers after the festival concerts.
