Folk singer Stu Larsen will perform in Riga coming fall

On September 28th an Australian singer, songwriter and folk musician Stu Larsen will perform at Latvian 1st Rock Cafe (Riga, Marstalu 2/4). It will be his first time in Latvia and this concert is to support his brand new album Resolute  (to be released on July 21st).
The previous, his debut album, is called Vagabond and was released in 2014. A relevant role in its making, record and producing took his friend, a romantic British singer songwriter Passenger, also known as Michael Rosenberg. It’s worth mentioning that Passenger show in Riga last fall was completely sold out.

Stu grew up in a small village on East coast of Australia and he would have spent his life there, the same as his parents, because everything was serene and sorted out. But he started to travel to neighbour town for a work reason and also the song writing,  which he started in teenage years, began to break out assertively and ordered to seek after new horizons. As a result Stu met Passenger, first became his tour manager and later started to warm up his concerts. At first in smaller clubs and bigger concert halls,  then even the festivals audience started to get to know his music, first in Australia and then in other countries as well. Deciding to change his life, Stu leaves his secure job in a bank and starts his exploring the world, which is still on going.

Naturally his next step is recording a debut album Vagabond.  In 2014 it is released and Stu is singing, playing a guitar and harmonica on it, Passenger is involved processes and producing; and a line of very good musicians are involved as well, including well known Australian string band Enigma Qurtet.
Most known hits are Thirteen Sad Farewells, San Francisco and King Street (which is dedicated to his father who died during the recording of this album).
Some critic describes it like this: “The songs are naturally seasoned by his experiences, free spirited but not carefree and also dappled with the detail that his photographic memoir suggests. His eye and his ear are equally attuned to telling a story”.

The ideas and integration of new album Resonate have been brought together in such different places like small cottage in Scotland, an apartment in Spain and some old military bunker in Australia. With this album Larsen wants to tell an important thing: “I hope everyone can…” he leaves off. “Too often, we just switch off and don’t think enough. Hopefully, these songs can spark something positive in listeners. Live simply. Don’t worry about the excesses. I hope everyone can come together around this music.”
Ticket sales will start on Friday, May 19th at 10am in Biļešu serviss network and on www.bilesuserviss.lv. Ticket price is just €12.
